Tai Sui 2014 Arrival le
Tai Sui (太歲) aka Lord of the Year and Age (太歲星君), in Chinese, sometime we address him as Dang Nian Tai Sui (當年太歲) or Zhi Nian Tai Sui (值年太歲) – meaning Tai Sui on Duty for that Year (in some context, Tai Sui is known as Jupiter – Mu Xing 木星).
In Taoism, Tai Sui can be considered as a very important Deity. Besides giving the necessary blessing to the Mortals, the different Tai Sui are used to mark the Lunar Year (夏曆農曆年) too.
In whole, for the cycle of the Lunar Year, there are 60 Tai Sui (六十太歲) to look after every individual year

WHO REALLY IS TAISUI?
Actually all these 60 Tai Sui were real historical characters in our Chinese History.
Most of them were well-known characters or famous generals in the past. after they passed-away, the folks or the Imperial Court Heavenly Officers put their name into the records as a form of gratitude or to let the world knew about their credits and merits.
So how are they appointed as the Tai Sui for that year?
1 - by their birthday year
2 - by their death year
3 - by their bestowed year
4 - by their spiritual enlightenment year (not death year, dont mistaken, this can be the year that he appeared somewhere or so-called being summoned to the mortal world, etc).
The above information are not well-known by the others or even the one who published the book on Tai Sui. :P
From what I know, the very first Tai Sui that appear in the Sets can be trace back as far as before Han Dynasty.
